Zonet Ethernet Adapter

I just tried to install a Zonet Zen3200 Ethernet adapter into a Intel
Atlanta motherboard with a pentium II running Windows 95. I got memory
conflicts. Should I try a different brand of adapter?

Do you really mean 'memory' conflicts or IRQ conflicts? And a conflict with
what?

No IRQ conflict. There were 3 memory conflicts. I was unable to select
memory that did not conflict. Appeared to be conflicts with motherboard
drivers and bios.

Also lost my dialup-adapter which prevented me from accessing the internet
thru a modem. When I gave up I had to reinstall the dialup-adapter.

Well, I wouldn't be surprised with a modem conflict as both modems and
network cards often use the same IRQs, as well as the serial ports. And, if
the system is loaded up, it's often necessary to disable the serial ports
to free them up.

Don't know why the card would want to use memory reserved for motherboard
resources (maybe confused if the modem was still plugged in with the
conflict) but perhaps if you freed up IRQs 3 and 4 it would use a more
normal configuration.

Then why did the modem disappear?

Make an IRQ list of all the devices that were in there and I suspect you'll
come up short, unless you had already disabled the serial ports.

In the device manager under networking there is something called a dialup
adapter.
When I attemped to install the ethernet card this disappeared and the new
card appeared in its place.
The modem appeared in the device manager normally and appeared to be
working.
I removed the new card when it failed to work.
The dialup adapter stayed gone.
I was unable to connect to the internet using my modem. This worked before
the card install.
Unable to establish connection.
I deleted my connection and added a new one.
During the add my computer reported the dialup adapter missing and
reinstalled it.
I was then able to connect to the internet like normal.
My modem may have worked the entire time and my probems were due to the
dialup adapter.
Whatever that is.

I am going to try once more in a few days. I'll disable all the devices I
can first.
If it doesn't work then it may be time for a new computer.
