Zone Alarm odd happening????

Getting home tonight and firing up the home office machine, zone alarm
appeared to have 'lost' all its permissions and for the first few minutes I
was continually re-allowing various legitimate programs to access the
internet.

Did ZA just 'lose' its permissions file? Or was it something more sinister?
AVG, Spybot S&D and Adaware found nothing really of note.
