Zip100 under Windows 2000:

D

Dave McCutchan

I have been using my parallel port externa
zip 100 drive under Windows 98 on an older Dell
that my wife will be using. I got a new Dell with Windows 2000.

If I run though the install process on te new Dell it threatens to reformat
my disks, destroying the data.

Surely it should be possible to use the disks
on both machines?!?!?

Can anyone tell me if I can go ahead and install
without screwing up my disks?

There is no need to install any Iomega software, unless you want to do a
long format or have write-protected or password-protected disks.

If Win2K doesn't recognize it on it's own, go to Device Manager
(WindowsKey+Pause/BreakKey, Hardware, Device Manager). Expand the Ports
entry, and double-click your parallel port. On the Port Settings tab, put
a check in 'Enable Legacy Plug and Play detection', then click on OK.

You can try running the Add New Hardware wizard from the Control Panel,
or reboot, to see if it's now recognized.
