zip file question

I read at office help website that a 6.5mb file attachment can be reduced to
2.5mb when zipped using the >send to >compressed commands

When I did that my 3.79mb file went to 3.83 when zipped.

What gives there? That's hardly any reduction at all.

File size reduction completely depends on the type of file you are
compressing. For example, files that are already compressed
(zip/cab/rar/arj) will not reduce any further and actually grow in size if
one tries to compress them again. Where as files like TXT, DOC, XLS, PPT,
MDB, .etc tend to compress very well.

Best guess is that you might be trying to compress a file that is already
compressed.
