Is there any way to have Vista (Build 5384) recognize my Iomega ZIP drive?

Vista recognized my USB ZIP drive the 1st time I
connected. I also used it to transfer some
files over to Vista.

3 of my other (W9x) systems Have Zip drives

Not supporting Legacy archival media is a major PITA.

The US Government requires certain records be kept 7 years or longer
(in special cases). We used to keep our "Year End" Archives on Zip
disks (these simple files also fit on smaller media).
Affordable CD burners and media have only been around a short while
(relatively).
Transfer of (seldom used) archives to newer media is a Expen$ive and
time consuming task.
Up until Vista, I could boot older equipment that supported old
hardware/media and share those files. The common protocol (IPX) is no
longer Common :/

Word, WordPerfect, WordStar, Multiplan, 123 were used on many DOS
computers for business. Can you even read these older files with the
current batch of programs?

Archives are a BIG, BIG problem.

Yes it is a shame that many users who want to upgrade to newer operating
systems or applications have to keep an extra partition on one of their
diskdrives so they can dual boot into the old OS or application but their is
no other easy way around the problem.

I was successful to use my external parallel SyQuest drive with a Virtual PC
machine running Win98. It doesn't take much power and you can access it thru
the network like any other share on the network.

Hi Mark,
Just wanted to let you know RC1 recognizes my IDE ZIP 100 drive and no extra
drivers were neccessary. One thing to note for me though, my computer doesn't
seem to recognize the eject button in VISTA. I must eject from the desk top.
Not sure why yet.
