zip codes with mail merge

I have an address data base in excel. Zip codes with the
plus 4 (77777-1234) show as 0 when I do a mail merge for
address labels using word. I have tried reformatting the
zip code cells to zip + 4 and serveral other formats and
nothing works. Help please and thank you

Have you tried putting an apostrophe ' in front of it to convert it to a
text string?

Debra Dalgleish has posted a way to do this to preserve the leading 0's in 5
digit zip codes:

I bet you could modify it to do the zip+4.
