zero length shortcut

I have a zero length shortcut in my start-programs folder and cannot figure
out how to delete it. I've tried deleting, moving, renaming and overwriting
with a file of the same name. I've searched the registry for the filename -
nothing works. How can I delete this shortcut? Thanks.

No luck. I chose Automatically fix file system errors; restarted; chkdsk
ran, but the zero length shortcut is still there.

Shelling out to command prompt and using delete command with /F parameter
got rid of them (even though they were not marked R-O.
