Z45 network printing results in black blocks on page

Have a Lexmark Z45 printer attached to Windows XP pro PC. Also have
Quickbooks software on a Windows 98 SE PC connected via 802.11b -
Linksys befw11s4. When I print from win98 to Z45 it works but I
occasionally get black shaded boxes in the print. Usually one fairly
small one and another about three inches long.
Have downloaded latest printer drivers direct from Lexmark.
When I use the same software on the XP system with direct connect
printer, no problems.

Suggestions?

I have seen this when some of the network traffic is dropped. If this only
happens on large doc it's most likely something with the network.
