Recently emails with YouTube video show with a red x, I may have changed
some security settings unintentionally. I am now using IE7. (I tried IE8
and removed it recently). Which security settings could be affecting this?
Thanks,
Dick

Here are some things to try:

Go to Tools, Options, Read, and uncheck "Read all
messages in plain text".

Also, Tools, Security, uncheck "Block images..." and also
uncheck "Do not allow attachments..."
If no improvement, in that same settings group, select the
Internet zone.

I rechecked to see if all those settings were proper and they were correct.
The only item (I think) that is not working is embedded YouTube in Windows
Mail. Do any settings in IE7 or Windows Vista 64 have an affect on this?
Thanks for the help,
Dick

About the only other possibility is that the sender didn't really
include the video. Can you tell from the message size whether
a sizable attachment is included? File size should be well over
10K.

I described the problem incorrectly. I'm sure the YouTube video is actually
trying to play from the internet rather than being imbedded.

So what is in the message is merely an image link to the
web-based video. In that case, the sender may have mangled
the link. The red X stands for an image (picture) which may be
part of the link. It is a red X because Windows Mail is unable
to access (load) that image from the Internet. If images in
other messages are received correctly by your Windows Mail,
it has to be an error at the sending end.

I don't think the OP is asking how to make embedded videos
work. Apparently someone is sending him graphical links to
a video, but the link is broken.
