Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page.

I downloaded a AuthenticBrowser.cab file from
www.altova.com. It is a ActiveX control.
I put it on my local IIS server's root folder.
With my test.htm url, I supposed to install this ActiveX
control in my computer.

However, Internet Explorer6.0 says that "Your current
settings prohibit running ActiveX controls..."
I searched two days and nights to figure out how to fix
it.

I changed all the Internet zone security configuration
but it failed.

Is there any other configuration stuff, such as local
security policy or group policy to enable running AcitveX
control?

I checked my XP registry key and group/local security
policy.

Any idea?

Thank you in advance...

Could another program be blocking ActiveX scripts?

Norton Internet Security, McAfee AV, Spybot SD Helper?

running. It is set to real time protection. However all
the software you mentioned below were never installed on
my machine.

Any idea?

Sorry. If you set the Security options for the Intranet Zone to enable or
prompt, I don't know what to try next. Is the local server listed in the
Intranet zone?

Hi CG - did you get any resolution to this problem? I have
an OCX on my hard drive (i.e., local zone) and I get this
error message no matter what I do in IE. Any ideas?

Rick

Here's a tip for all of you who may have been getting the following
message:

"Your current settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page.
As a result, the page may not display correctly."

I found that it was caused by the "DCOMbobulator" application
available from Steve Gibson at http://grc.com/

That may be a handy app to provide security but it will cause that
error message to be displayed. Took me a while to figure out, so I
hope this will help some others who may have installed it and
forgotten about it.
