You (or a program) have requested ...

Every time I log on, after a few seconds, I get a dialog box headed 'Network
Connections' telling me that 'You (or a program) have requested information
from ...'. Usually it says 'toolbarqueries.google.co.uk'. (I understand
that's how you send search requests to Google). Then I'm offered a choice
of connections - even if I'm already connected via broadband. This has only
begun to happen in the last week or two. I understand that it is 'an
autodialler' but no-one seems to have a definite idea of how to get rid of
it. Any clues?

Well; what have you tried so far?

I've tried searching everywhere for a what this 'program' is, with no real
success. I've done a full AVG scan and full Ad-Aware scan and this shows
nothing. Since posting the first report I've noticed that it seems to do
this (if I don't click 'don't ask again while I'm logged on') everytime I go
to a new web site, and it's simply asking me which connection I'd like to
use to access it. It doesn't seem to be malicious - just a nuisance ...
because I always want to us my broadband connection.

Following further internet searches, I think I've found the answer - I
simply need to disable automatic dialling. Right-click My Computer >
Manage>Services and Application>Services>Remote Access Auto Connection
Manager. Double click then choose 'disable' (it was set to Manual). This
seems to work, can you see any snags?
