Yet another reason to scrap Vista

J

JethroUK©

I have 256,000 windows open and in use (well 7) and I have minimised them
all(show desktop) so I can pop one window up

Cant be done with this useless POS because when you pop one window up it
pops all other windows up too - grrrrr

Vista also has trouble 'paneing' windows

Then Microsoft have the brass gaul to describe Windows 7 window paneing as
some new breakthru "feature" that was standard in XP and before

In actual fact the Windows 7 window paneing can only ever be described as "a
feature" if compared directly to POS Vista that cant perform due to
incompetent programming

There should be a law against deliberately deceiving the public

Sorta reminds me of Vista *New* *Search* *Feature* which cant find it's own
ace with both hands - unlike XP which performed searches with ease

All i want to do is copy a link to my desktop whilst I'm burning a movie to
DVD - but this is impossible with Vista that wont let me see the desktop
with *any* window open

As a result I will have to wait 20 mins (for DVD to finish burning) before I
can make a short cut - It doesn't get worse than that!!!!!!!!

Multi-tasking - i dont think so - Even my 1985 Amiga could do more than one
thing at once

I think MS should refund everyone who bought Vista as not fit for purpose -
because it's sheet

This complaint sounds like you are unsure of what you can do. ;-)

Why do you need to see your desktop to actually copy anything to it. You
realize it is just a folder - right? If you can explore the drive - you can
copy files to your desktop (or any other place.)

Windows Key + R --> Type in:
"%UserProfile%\Desktop"
--> Click OK.
(Yes - put in the quotation marks.)

There's your desktop.

Could probably do this in several other ways - but I don't know what DVD
burning application you are using and I have not had this issue.

Doesn't do that to me. I can minimize all windows then restore any or
all independently as I like.

Sounds like your problem, not Vista's.

I'm not sure why I am telling you this...

You can click on a single icon to open a single window. Did you know that?

As for "deliberately deceiving the public" - some people are easier to
deceive than others.

... I have not had this issue.

Struggling to believe that!

You have not experienced using the 'show desktop' icon (minimise all windows
to task bar in single click) & popping one up only to find Vista pops all
windows up???

Although you really over-snipped, the answer to your query as now given is,
"No, I have not experienced what you just described." I used Vista x64
Ultimate for about a year on my laptop before I upgraded to Windows 7
Ultimate. I just tried to reproduce it on what I have left (a couple of
Windows XP machines and a couple of Windows 7 x64 systems) and I still
cannot reproduce it.

Doesn't mean it is not happening to you, doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

However - I was referring to the (because it was an entire thought with a
definite reference as seen above before you snipped it) about the fact you
could not get to your desktop to make a shortcut while burning a DVD - thus
the answer I gave you centered around that whole thing. It is *not*
impossible nor have I had the issue where I could not get to my desktop
while burning a DVD.

I no longer have a 'show desktop' icon; I forget how this disappeared, may
or may not have removed it myself.

I use the Windows icon on my keyboard together with the letter M to minimise
all windows.
I pop one up by clicking on the Taskbar, & don't have Vista popping all
windows up.

I'm having no trouble doing that either, I don't know why people rag on
vista so much, it works just fine for me...
