Yahoo Companion Toolbar

I am using Windows XP Professional and I use Yahoo as my
home page. I also use Earthlink as my internet provider.
Three days ago I updated my Earthlink Total Access from
2004 to 2005 but when I did I forgot disable the
firewall. I dial into the internet and Yahoo comes up. I
want to change the companion toolbar to include items
that I want. When I click the pencil and then add/edit
button this message comes up saying cannot find
server 'us.edit.companion.yahoo.com/config/slv4_edit'
make sure the path or internet address is correct. I then
to and click the add/change button and this message comes
up saying, cannot find
server 'us.edit.companion.yahoo.com/cofig/slv4_edit?.chkor
d-1' make sure the path or internet address is correct.
I then tried to uninstall the companion tool bar and this
message came up saying, cannot find
server 'us.edit.companion.yaoo.com/config/slv5_rm?.intl=us
&.p_srv=surveys.yahooo.com&_path=/companion-
rm/ud/body.html&dc=v5&.pc=&.tbi=us&.cver=5.3.19.0' make
sure the path or internet address is correct. What I
would like to know is that when I updated Earthlink to
2005 and did not disable the firewall would this have
made Yahoo companion not work? Also what do I need to do
to correct this problem. I can uninstall the whole Total
Access progam and then reinstall it with the firewall
disabled. But with the problem listed above I can't
uninstall the Yahoo companion. Could someone tell me what
I need to do? Thank you for your help with this and if
you need any more info just let me know.

Hi,
Some things you might try:
Is Yahoo Companion listed in Ctrl Panel> Add/remove programs? Can you remove
it from there?

Turn off the firewall just long enough to try to uninstall Companion again.
It seems to want to connect to Yahoo in order to uninstall.

Try Toolbar Cop from http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/Toolkit.htm

Hope this helps,
Don

I am not very computer literate. I do have the Yahoo
Companion listed in Ctrl Panel>Add/remove programs. I
will go in there in uninstall it and then I will
reinstall it. Thank you for getting back to me. I will
let you know if it works. And I will keep the firewall
off when I do all this.

Disconnect from the Internet before you disable your firewall.

On a number of occasions, I have seen the first hit received on my WAN port
within two seconds of bootup.
