yahoo chat adult rooms gone

O

Olivier Saurin

After re-installing yahoo messenger the Adult branch under Romance is not
there. I seem to remember having had this problem before and there was
somewhere to tell yahoo I didn't mind about adult content, but I can't find
it anymore. Any ideas?

TIA

Oli

I figured out whats wrong. There is an XML file in the depths of the yahoo
install that defines each of the rooms. basically it just looses the link
to find the rooms.

Look for the yahoo install on you computer, it should be under C:\Program
Files\Yahoo!\Messenger

In there should be a folder called \cache

open it and change the view to details so you can read the whole file name
of each file. scroll down the list until you find the files that end with
'chatCatagories.xml' (usually starts with a bunch of jumbled letters and
numbers about 24 characters long)

open it in notepad.exe and when open it lists all the different rooms you
can see!

all you need to add into that file is this
<category id="1600083764" name="Adult">
<category id="1600083801" name="BDSM">
</category>
<category id="1600085416" name="Fetishes">
</category>
<category id="1600084215" name="Gay Male">
</category>
<category id="1600084740" name="Lesbian">
</category>
<category id="1600084752" name="Married But Looking">
</category>
<category id="1600085693" name="Masturbation">
</category>
<category id="1600086224" name="Role Playing">
</category>
<category id="1600084891" name="Straight">
</category>
</category>

ofcourse it will need to line up with the other lists under romance so tab
it in!

and hey! there you go! if you get stuck email me on
(e-mail address removed)

um....thanks? Seems like this would have better been posted to a Yahoo
forum....this group is for Windows 2000 applications (as in, applications
native/internal to Windows 2000)
