Yacht Club program to Outlook Calendar

C

Colin Sinclair

The Royal Southern Yacht Club in Hamble UK would like to make its various
racing, cruising, motorboat, and youth programs available as a "one click"
download from the club website to a high proportion of club members who use
Outlook. I am sure that this can be done, but as a pretty basic Outlook
user, would value advice from someone here who has hands on experience in
this field. With previous involvement in this Newsgroup, I blithely said I'd
ask!
Thanks in advance.

By "program" do you mean schedule?

If you have the schedule in your Outlook calendar, you can use the File |
Save As command to save each
individual item as an iCalendar or vCalendar .ics or .vcs file, then store
those files on your web server and provide links on the web page. When the
web page visitor clicks on the link, the file will open, and if they have an
iCal-compatible program like Outlook, they'll be able to save the event into
Outlook.

Thanks Sue,

Can we create a calendar file with multiple dates from within Outlook, or do
we need another program to create such files?

You would need another program, and Outlook users would have to import it
with the File | Import and Export command.
