X's instead of pictures

Had to re-install windows vista, and now I have some problems with pictograms.
In the right section of the start menu, no pictograms are shown. In the
section 'help and support' i have x's where the pictograms should be. In
internet explorer (v7),
plenty pictures have also an X. What's the problem now?? I really hate
Vista, never had problems with XP. Vista came with my new computer. This is
the third time I had to re-install vista. Was frequently completely blocked.

Launch Internet Explorer and click on Tools > Internet Options >
Advanced tab. Scroll down to Show Pictures, place a check next
to it and click Apply.

It's a packard-bell laptop. Before the re-install, I had no problems with
pictures and pictorams. In the help and support section , normally you can
see 6 icons together with the text, but i have only the text and where the
icon should be a square with an X appears.

Go to the link below and follow the instructions carefully.
It should help with 'Help and Support'. There's actually
three different fixes there, so pay attention when you scroll.

Only had to check "Include Windows Online Help and Support when you search
for help". This fixed the problem: nice icons instead of x's. Thanks.
