XPsp2 "Add Mirror" grayed out

S

spinlock

I just built a new system, installed XP Pro then added sp2.

I have 2 74 GB drives and I put everything on the C drive.

When I right click on C(it's a Dynamic Disk), the Add Mirror
is grayed out.

I have tried the other drive as:
1) Dynamic and basic
2) Unallocated
3) Allocated, but, not formatted

What can I look for?

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to right click on
a disallowed option and get a reason!!!!!

thanks,

As far as I know, you can only create a mirror on Server (NT4, Win2000,
Win2003) versions of windows, not on workstations. And I think that there is
an additional limitation on creating a mirror for the system or boot drive.
The same probably applies to other fault-tolerant RAID sets.

There used to be tricks in NT4 Workstation to get it to create fault-tolerant
volumes, but those probably don't work with WinXP (which doesn't support the
same types as NT4).
