XpertVision GeForce4 MX440 AGP8X Driver - "Data is Invalid" Error

I have the above mentioned card installed in a GA-81TXE
motherboard with intel P4 1.7 with 512MB RDRAM. I bought
this video card recently as my old one decided to stop
working. I couldn't find an AGP4X card to suit the
motherboard so I got this one on the advice that it was
backwards compatable with AGP 2X or 4X. It will run up and
give me high res using the standard VGA compatable driver.
Everytime I reboot it finds the video card and correctly
recognises it BUT then provides a "data is invalid" error.
I have tried NVidia's latest driver 52.16, the windows
update site, the original drivers provided with the card
all have the same result. Has anyone seen this before? Any
suggestions on how to overcome it? Any advice would be
appreciated.

It is also a registry prob in XP.

(Well usually with PCI cards, why that
data is invalid error comes up).
