XPE Headless system needs help!!!

hi,

Some desciption of my system:

-XPE SP2
-Headless with no keyboard and mouse attached. (it actually has a VGA
port and proper VGA driver installed but it is running headlessly with
no monitor)
- use hibernation mode so that it can boot fast boot to windows (not
HORM)

The problem detected on one of the system installed on site, we found
it is not working so we take it back and plug a monitor and found out
the following message on screen:

*-------------------------------------------*
The last attempt to restart the system from its previous location
failed, attempt to restart again?

Delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu
Continue with system restart.
*------------------------------------------"
it require user action while my system suppose to be run headlessly.

I understand it might be hibernation file is corrupted. Is it possible
to disable this message and set a default action for it?

Please advices and thanks for reading....

Hi Zen,

Sounds like you have system service running in the BG that's either
modifying the Hibernate file, or corrupting it. In a normal hibernate
function, the hibernate file is updated each time you shut the system down
with the hibernate command. something is probably changing in the system
between boots and hibernates... If you're running headless, I would
recommend using full HORM, so that the state of the system is protected by
EWF... also within windows, you need the "system message interception"
component, so that the system won't hang on messages. this component clicks
the default button when a message appears in a headless state. I don't know
of a way to do it outside windows... hence the recommendation on HORM, or a
3rd party instant on solution.

JC

thanks for the suggestion.
We can't use HORM and EWF, the software written for this application is
looging data and we do not have additional disk space to make a
partition or as data storage so HORM is out of the question...

I guess I have to dig deeper.... Any idea from MS guys? I guess you all
are busy for MDEC....
