XPe and Active directory

Keith Templin

I am looking at standing up a 2008 terminal server, and publishing various
applications. My question is not about TS, but the client. We have XPe
thin clients and I am trying to find information if I should join them to
the domain.

My concern is that during the initial setup you have to write to the ROM
which saves the Kerberos ticket. Well if XPe is rebooted 91 days later that
ticket will not be valid any longer (based in normal XP / domain
interaction). Am I correct in my concerns or is there a special part of XPe
that keeps the ticket up dated?

Last question, will XPe process GPOs just like XP? I want to add icons to
the user's desktops for the applications published on TS.

Thanks

You need to make sure that the thin client has the Registry Filter enabled.
The registry filter will preserve the domain secret key.

XPE is XP Pro broken down into components. If if runs on XP pro it will run
in XPe so long as the right components are in place. The thin client
manufacturer controls what features and functionallity that goes into the
image.
