What would be faster...taking into account bus speed?

Taking busspeed in account, the system with the XP3200 /400MHz. But
overall performance will be much better on the XP3000 with the 1.2GB
RAM. So if you want to impress your friends, than take the XP3200, but
if you want a gaming system go with the 3000.

The relative small differance in MHz between the XP3000 and the 3200
aren't that noticeble, but the differance between 1.2GB or 0.512GB
(512MB) RAM is like day and night.

I'd go with the XP3200+ and 512MB PC3200, adding another 512MB in due
course.

Depending on your motherboard, an Athlon XP-M and 2x 256MB PC3700 CL2.5 RAM
can be had for the same budget. This would give you the highest
clock-speeds, and dual-channel performance.

What will you be running? Extra ram won't help if it isn't being used.
If you are running Photoshop with large files, then the extra ram
is very important. If you have many applications open at once,
then the extra ram is important.

Thanks for the replies :) I use my PC mainly for playing films, music,
photo editing, web design, internet browsing and E-mail. However, I play
some games on it, CM 0304, Call of Duty etc and CM requires an awful lot of
ram, but I was just wondering whether hte increased bus speed and extra
200Mhz on the 3200 setup would be more adventagious than the extra ram.

Editing large images requires plenty of ram and a fast processor to run rapidly.

Then perhaps you should be thinking about an Athlon 64 instead?

Those aren't major differences for gaming. An Athlon 64 would make a
major difference, especially if you plan to play Doom 3.

Doom 3 also needs plenty of ram, and a high end video card to run well.
