XP2 Upgrade Error during extraction

I have dual hard drives, C:\ = Win2000, D:\ = WinXP Pro
SP1. I almost always boot to D:. I downloaded the 266MB
XP2 file to D:\ and when I try to run it an error message
appears shortly after.

The 'Extracting Files' window appears and it starts going
through, however, it is extracting the files to the C:
drive (c:\c6eb089a7353fdd3aa4ebcd0f632dd, specifically).
When it gets to 'i386\crypt32.dl_' an error appears
saying 'File is Corrupt'. I click OK and the upgrade
stops.

a. Can I tell this thing to extract and run from D:\?
b. Is the corrupt message coming up because it's looking
at the crypt32.dll on C:\?
c. Is my d:\ version of crypt32.dll actually corrupt, and
if so, how and where do I fix it?

Thanks for your assistance.

The corruption is inside your downloaded 266MB XP2 file. Look in the Event
Log for system error messages regarding disk errors, especially "The device,
\Device\Harddisk0\DR0, has a bad block." If so, you may need to replace
your disk. Otherwise try downloading it again.
