XP Word's Status Bar Help

In Normal view why is the At and Ln dimmed, I can only
view the Col in this view. I have checked in the Options,
Tools, View tab and the Status bar is checked, but the
only way that I can view all three of the At Ln and Col
options is in Print Layout view. Why is that? Can it be
fixed so that I view in Normal?

Hi, Ballen,

When you're in Normal view, go to Tools > Options > General and check the
box for "Background repagination". Word requires this process to be enabled
in order to calculate the vertical position of the insertion point.

When you're in Print Layout view, if you visit that dialog, you'll see that
background repagination is checked and grayed out; that view requires
repagination in order to display at all. In Normal view you can turn it off
to improve the program's speed, but the penalty is losing the status bar
information. On a reasonably fast processor, you'll never notice the speed
difference anyway.
