XP won't recognize hardware

My Acer TravelMate 3000 has Windows XP. The notebook also came with an Acer
External Slim Combo Drive (IEEE 1394). I just used the drive two weeks ago,
but now Windows won't recognize it.

I tried unplugging the drive, and restarting Windows. Once Windows loaded,
I plugged the drive back in, but it is still unrecognized.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Amanda

Can you try the drive on a different computer? That would establish if the
drive itself has failed.
If the drive is OK, you might try uninstalling any drivers for it on your
PC, rebooting and going through the installation procedure from the
beginning.
