XP wireless connection keeps dropping

Having an issue with XP and wireless network. It is setup
fine. I connect fine. My netowrk SID is in the preffered
network list. Despite this, XP keep keeps on dropping the
connection every few mins and tells me there are other
networks to connect to when there are none. I have to
reconnect to my own network every few mins and that is
really annoying. Is there a solution for this?

What sort-of works, but is still annoying, is this. I
connect to my netowrk, then I go the the advanced
properites and uncheck "Use windows for wireless netowrk
control". But then, I have to enable it again everytime
the computer is booted to get on my network again.

I tried a web search and a seach at support.microsoft.com
and I have found nothing that helps. There must be a
solution to this annoying XP interruptions.

Oh, and my signal is Excellent, NOT low. It seems like
everytime win XP polls for available networks, it drops
my current one. This really sucks.

I had this problem for a while as well.

Turned out it was the software for my wireless router.
Everything I found on their (routers) website pointed me
to needing their software installed, but I found if I
left it uninstalled I was able to stay connected.

After a few calls, I was able to get someone to verify
they hadn't updated their FAQ's and this was indeed an
issue of the software they provided not being needed on
Windows XP.

Thanks for the suggestion, but the PC card's software is
not installed on my computer. Their instructions clearly
state (as so does their wizard) to use Windows XP
wireless networking for their card and no manufacturer's
wireless stuff gets installed (BTW, my PC card is made by
Actiontec and my router is a D-link 614+). My router does
not install anything on my PC.

Some other forum suggested I turn off XP wirless network
searcher but no one knew how to actually do it.

The same PC card works just fine on Win98 with the
manufacturer's wirless software....

Back to square 1.
