XP Windows log in problem from Ad-Aware

So, I was told that the Ad-Aware program I ran yesterday
caused a mess up that wouldn't allow me to get onto my
computer. So i used my Compaq System recovery disk, (the
standard one that is supposed to leave your files intact)
but now when i start my computer I get the black DOS
screen with the words "NTLDR is compressed" It advises me
to do Control, Alt, delete, which just brings me back to
the same screen. The micrsoft website suggests I do things
that can't be done since I can't get the computer started.
A catch 22....I can't type anything onto the screen, it
doesn't respond...what now...? (I've run out of tears, I
think I'm dehydrated....)
