Ok here it is in a nutshell
Running Windows xp professional
None of the following web browsers work Explorer 6 or 7, and Firefox.
If a URL is entered as www.yahoo.com message will come up cannot locate site.
id an ip for a site is entered then the site will comeup, but cannot click
on a link.
In cmd window I can ping ip address but not url addresses.
I can do an nslookup in the cmd window and I do get the ip address for
various sites. I have reset the adaptors, Tried both my ethernet and usb.
I Haved tried entering the ip and dns information manually into the
connections instead of using DHCP. I have done a DNS flush and a winsock ip
reset. My laptop which is set to connect using dhcp works fine off the
connections. No Firewall is turned on in windows. I get the same results no
matter if I am connected my hardware firewall or if I bypass it directly to
the cable modem. Any Ideas

You have a DNS problem, or an LSP / Winsock problem. Fixing LSP / Winsock
problems can involve more than just Winsock IP Reset.

We could look at "ipconfig /all" from each computer, which may help.
