Xp w2k dual boot and hard drives

My pc has 2 drives after the upgrade( which has worked fine for 2 years)
Drive 1 has the dual boot option, C:\, and contains XPpro.
Drive 2 has 3 partitions and W2K.

My idea is to boot this on one drive, sata of some size and then use an
identical sata drive plus the sata controller to make a mirrored set up.
can I clone the original drives to one and still see a dual boot option?

SATA aside, yes it's possible to clone the drives to one physical drive,
however the dual boot pointer is still pointing to the old location, you will
have to manually edit your boot.ini to the new location. You may need to get
boot magic if manual edit is beyond you. also XP doesn't like cloning to a
different sized partition from original, be prepared to perform a repair
install of XP.

If your changing from IDE boot to SATA, then a repair will be certain, as
you need to install the sata drivers before XP will see the sata drive.
