XP User/Admin Lockout - How to Switch Users??

Ras DeBol

Hi!
Looking for suggestions.....
When a user logs into a domain after a while the
screensaver kicks in and ONLY THAT user or an admin can
log in to it...
Have a multi-user environent so I can't kill the
screensaver due to confidentialty but need a way for
another user to be able to access that machine.Hard to
force people to log off every time they walk away from a
PC. The user FAST SWITCH feature would be ideal but that
won't work in a domain use scenario. Need some sort of
auto logoff (timed) or some way to log out one user and
let another in....Any suggestions??
Thanks
Ras

Greetings --

Why are you using a secure OS if you don't want any security?
You're contradicting yourself. Allowing anyone (other than an
Administrator or the current user) to unlock a workstation would
defeat the entire purpose of using the screensaver to protect
"confidentiality." Either turn off the screensaver's password
protection, or teach your users some rudimentary security practices.
Consult your network administrator for your local security policies
and potential solutions.

I agree Bruce. BUT the users are a bunch of dolts. I was
just trying to find a "dolt-proof" solution for multiple
users on 1 workstation in a 24/7 operation that often
deals with confidential medical records. Correct
procedure would be to access info and then immediately
close down apps and log off so IF someone else comes
along the PC will be available. Unfortunately these
dunderheads would find such logical procedures a bother
and management seems to be absent. If they walk away the
machine ends up being locked and a power down reboot will
blow away any unsaved info. So, yes, we need a secure
platform but also need a setup that will outguess the
fine users incompetence without losing data.
Adult supervision is called for but nowhere to be found.
