XP User Accounts Screen - View like Win2K

W

WB

Hello !!
Does anyone know how to change the default view in Windows XP of the user
accounts screen in Control Panel so that it looks the way it did in Windows
2000?

In XP you get the page of icons with associated pictures.
In Win2K, it was a rectangular box with the Accounts listed in a scrolling
box.

I've seen a machine before that had it changed, and would like to change it
to the old style also.

Thanks !!!

You can run the Win2K style User Accounts applet by going to Start -> Run and
entering control userpasswords2 in the Open box. Click OK.

Here's a web site where you can download a registry fix that will add this
applet to Control Panel in XP.

Another carryover from Win2K is the Local User and Groups console. It's
available by launching Computer Management (Control Panel -> Administrative
Tools -> Computer Management) and clicking on Local Users and Groups in the left
hand column. You can also launch it by going to Start -> Run and entering
lusrmgr.msc in the Open box.

You can also disable the Welcome screen if you prefer to use the Win2K style Log
On to Windows dialog. To do this, double click on User Accounts in Control Panel
and click on "Change the way users log on or off". Uncheck Use the Welcome
Screen and hit the Apply Options button.

Good luck
