XP upgrade does not find any W2K programs

I upgraded my motherboard to an Intel D865PERL, new
processor and RAM. Kept the hard drive with W2K pro.
Installed XP pro over the W2K, and the install didn't
find any of my old applications.

My hardware person got the old W2K running again, and re-
ran the XP install. Same results. None of the old
programs appear in the start menu.

Does anyone know:

1. What might have caused this?

2. How to do a re-install that would find the programs,
OR (preferably)

3. Know how to get XP to re-do the installation
component that looks for previously installed programs?

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Joe;
When that happens the best thing to do is reinstall the applications.

cause you did not do a clean install...you shoulda did some (a lot) of
homework before just popping in CD for this upgrade...
