Xp Update problem

Hi Guys,
I have the lastest updated version of WindowsXP SP2, and it updates via auto
updates. I keep getting a latest downloads indicator on the taskbar,
normally works fine. But the last update as
soon as I click it to instal, it starts by opening the installation box then
says the following updates were not installed Microsoft Windows Installer
3.1, time and time again any idea what the problem is or do I not need the
update

Download and install the latest version for WinXP from this site:
"Windows Installer 3.1 Redistributable (v2)"
