XP Update Failed - Not SP2

What to do...sometime in August /04 I did one of the XP critical updates
from the Update page that MS suggested, I thought it installed ok at the
time, but I just checked my update history on the MS update page and it
said XP B839645 failed.
My add/remove programs lists it as being installed.
What should I do, remove it and go back to the MS update page and see if it
will update it or what.
Nothing appears to be wrong with the computer other than what I consider a
lengthy shutdown period compared to bootup...so what to do?(G)

good idea, remove and reinstall.

Thanks for the reply...did that this morning and it reinstalled it
correctly this time.
But at log on this morning before I had a chance to uninstall/reinstall
my log on had changed just the welcome screen no option was presented
which was the case when I last logged on yesterday.
One of the updates yesterday must have changed something...dang it why
can't MS provide updates that make changes only to what they are trying
to fix...certainly would make life easier.
