XP Turning on PAD lock at shutdown & bootup

I recently installed a group of updates to a Gateway Tablet PC. Now when I
shut down the computer or boot it up it turns on the pad lock, and the user
un-knowingly locks himself out of the network because he's entering his
password incorrectly. Any have any suggestions, or should I be calling
Gateway about this one? I installed SP2 after this problem began but it did
not resolve the issue.

You might get someone on this group who uses a Tablet PC, but it might
