XP to XP network thru cable router - "Might not have permissions"

J

Jim

I have two xp computers connected to a cable router. Upon
original setup they worked fine for file sharing and
printer sharing. Upon reboot, I get an error message -
"might not have permissions to use either workgroup or the
computer name."

I have tried all suggestions - reinstalled network
drivers, rerun network wizard, reviewed the tcpip
settings, tried modifying netbios over tcpip, eliminated
the network bridge.

Everyonece and awhile, I can get it to rok but mostly not.

I successfully pinged in both directions and net view
shows both computers.

No firewall "turned on" on the computers although I have
it installed on the harddrive.

What is this permissions thing - I cant beat it.

I ended up using NWLink IPX/SPX and the fix was instant
and complete.

Thanks for you help anyway - it was really appreciated.
