XP to Vista Upgrade (HP) and nothing works?

Bought a new Compaq that came loaded with XP, but had the optional upgrade to
Vista. After loading the vista I've had several problems, including...
-Ipod issues
-sync with my treo
-general speed

I've tried to reload the XP using my recovery discs but it did not take. At
reboot and start up it always asks me (in CHUI, not GUI) which windows
version do I want to use.

Any suggestions for fixing my compatibility issues or getting the XP back?

hilby,

It's possible you have managed to set up a dual boot system. When you are
asked which Windows version you want to use, are you given a choice? If so,
select one to see where it takes you.

If Vista is still there to boot to, you can then work on getting it up to
speed. Download and install all the latest updates available at the
Microsoft update website, for example. Do the same for the sync center, and
for everything else you're having problems with. This just takes a little
time and attention to details.

Of course I could be misunderstanding your situation and be off base here,
but you can always post back with any clarification to aid in understanding.
