XP System State Backup - Any Danger to ZIP'ing File?

XP Media Ctr/Backup Utility: To store on a USB Flash Drive & via XP's ZIP I
can cut the ".bkf " System State backup file from 500 MB to 225 MB. Is there
any reason I'd regret doing this if I had to later Un-Zip and use the Backup
data ? Many Thanks!

I would leave my oldest backup unziped, in case I lost unzip ability and
needed a backup to restore that first.

Thank You! Apparently you know of Un-Zip Failed occasions so I'll heed that
advice.
