Thankyou if u can help. I am reinstalling windows XP home. After gettin my
updates to SP2 i restart my comp and check for more updates. After my
critical updates for SP2 i need to restart again. This is my point of
frustration as when i hit restart my comp gets suck in a loop where windows
will start loading then restart. This just continues on forever. Am i missing
something? got auto update off now and only at SP2 without updates. Sp2 was
installed using auto update.

First try rebooting into Safe Mode.
To enter Safe Mode.
If you are currently in Windows XP, click on Start and select Turn Off
Computer.
From the menu choices, select Restart
To enter Safe Mode, as soon as you see the text messages on the monitor, tap
the F8 key until you get the message you are entering Safe Mode.
For the first option, choose last known good configuration.
If unsuccessful, return to Safe Mode and from Add/Remove remove the SP2 hot
fix.
Post back if system was returned to a pre SP2 state.
Check my web site and Google for prepping your computer before applying SP2.
