XP, Static IP and DNS issues

We have a Windows 2000 environment. Most of our machines
use DHCP, however, some have static IP's (192.168.x.x).
The DHCP users DNS / WINS works properly but the static
IP users DNS / WINS does not. All setting are correct for
the static IP users (they match the DHCP users except
that they are hard coded). This only happens on our XP
machines. Everything works properly on our Windows 2000
machines.

Make sure that NetBIOS Over TCP/IP is enabled on XP:

1. Open the Network Connections folder.
2. Right click the local area network connection and click Properties.
3. Double click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
4. Click Advanced.
5. Click WINS.
6. Click the Enable NetBIOS Over TCP/IP button.

We're having problems, too, and we DO have Netbios over
TCP/IP enabled. I'm getting ready to switch from static
IPs because I am told DHCP works much better.
