XP SP2 RC2

OK, perhaps not a good candidate for the cmdprompt group
but I'll ask anyway.

I just installed XPSP2RC2 on a test machine. The most
notable (and relevant to my problem) changes are:

1. The Alerter and Messenger services are disabled.
2. Windows Firewall is enabled by default and port 445
is blocked.

I need SMB overt NetBIOS for several remote admin tools
so I opened TCP port 445 by issuing the following command:

netsh firewall set portopending TCP 445 enable

This worked fine.

My question is: What do I have to do to allow an XPSP2
machine to receive instant messages? I have enabled and
started the messenger service and tried opening 135/UDP
137/UDP, 138/UDP, 135/TCP and 139/TCP on the firewall via
various netsh command but still no luck. If I disable
the firewall, the PC can receive messages sent via a "net
send" command.

Can anyone help?

Try opening port 1026 also.
