My company has an application that uses a local html file to load an
activeX control. The changes in XP SP2 disable this capability,
however there are a number of work arounds provided.
One of these is the ability to put a comment like this in the local
HTML file:
<!-- saved from url=(00xx)http://someurl/ -->
Where 'xx' is the length of the URL supplied. Doing this forces the
html page to load with the security settings of the zone in which the
specified url resides.
Am I missing something, or does this seem to defeat the purpose of the
lockdown?
Thanks,
Scott
