XP SP2 freezes but no BSOD

This is a fresh re-install after reformatting the C drive. After XP SP2
installation, I installed Nvdia chipset drivers, ATI graphic card drivers,
updated windows, installed USB printers, PCI modem and TV Tuner card. Also
loaded most of my apps, including office and Nero7, Kaspersky IS.

Now the old problem just re-appeared: The system just freezes randomly once
a while. It happens without correlation to system load or any particular
applications. Only way to get out of it is to shut down windows by pressing
and holding the power button.

Where do I begin to look for clues?

If your fresh install is having the same issues as the previous install,
your problem is likely hardware related, start by running a memory test
(download from memtest.org) and a hard drive diagnostic (download from the
drive mfg's website). If both pass you may have a flaky motherboard, CPU, or
other peripheral.

Have you taken a look in Event Viewer?

Yes, the Event View only has one system error, and that is upon system
startup, ati2msg about CRT type. There is no error around time time of
crash.

To David B., before I re-install XP, I changed the power supply from a 500W
to 600W (I think 300W should be enough). I also ran prime95 torture test
overnight without problem. The freeze-up is not very frequent, I guess. I
will ran memtest. I have logitech wireless mouse and keyboard. I will
change to wired mouse.

Are there any other logs that could shine some light in the cause of the
problem?

Some more info: the error in event log is generated by ati2mtag with event
ID 45062. I did some searching it seems to be a new bug fro catalyst 7.7 and
up, but ATS claims it does no harm.

I did not see any XP freeze complaints on the logitech forum. But since
most of the problem occured when I am moving the mouse pointer, I changed my
keyboard and mouse to the standard wired ones. We will see how it goes from
here. The problem does not happen every day but it definitely happens once
or more in a week.
