When i start Movie Maker it says "Movie Maker has encounted an error and
needs to close ..."
It is not the KB825229 item.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please verify the versions of both Movie Maker and Windows XP

For Windows -- in an explorer windows use "Help-About Windows" The dialog
box should display something like:

Microsoft (r) Windows
Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158 : Service Pack 2)

For Movie Maker:

Use explorer to navagate to "C:\Program Files\Movie Maker" then Right-CLick
on MOVIEMK.EXE and select "Properties" and then select the "Version" Tab.

The file Version property of Movie Maker should read:

"2.1.4026.0"

and Moviemaker: 2.1.4026.0
Thank you for your interest. The message comes up before i have a chance to
do anything.
Eagerly awaiting your further suggestions.

The Problem is SP2... It will ultimately crash your entire system, and when
you try to retrieve Movie Maker, it will try to forcefeed Movie maker 2.1 &
SP2 again, and it has hidden the trusty MM2 that we are all used too, but SP2
will cause many more problems. I am said to say that I contributed to this
fallout by initially distributing and installing this service Pack, but now
repair techs are raking in more funds in a month removing this service pack
than they have in all other repairs combined. If you restore your system,
and click on the MM2 links, it will try to force-feed you Movie Maker 2.1 and
SP2 as a requirement. DO NOT DO THIS... DO NOT USE SP2...EVER... IF YOU
HAVE, REPLY TO THIS POST, or email to (e-mail address removed)... this is Win 98
ALL OVER AGAIN!!!. i FINALLY FOUND THE DOWNLOAD FOR MOVIE MAKER 2 FOR SP1...
tucked away nicely in downloads.com... IF YOU HAVE A RESTORE POINT CREATED
BEFORE THE UPDATE... BACK UP ANYTHING YOU CANNOT RETRIEVE LATER & ROLLBACK TO
SP1... YOU WILL ONLY FING OUR TRUSTY LITTLE MOVIE MAKER FOR sp1 HERE:
http://www.download.com/3001-2194_4-10187903.html . i WILL HELP YOU REMOTELY
AS FAR AS i CAN, just reply.
