XP SP2 Connection Problems with 2Wire Wireless Modems

SBC is my DSL provider. There is an inherant problem
connecting wirelessly to the 2Wire modem once SP2 id
installed. SBC/Yahoo has no solutions. They have no
suggestions other than contacting the PCI card
manufacturer (NetGear) to see if they have a propritary
Client Mangaer utility to bypass the MS Client Manager.
Does MS have a patch for this problem which is resident
with the SP2 patch?

I have the same problem, but I do not think it is ISP- or
manufacturer-specific. I use a Linksys wireless access
point and WEP for security. At one point, I used
Wiondows Update to download a security patch that had to
do with WPA. After that, I could not connect. I backed
out the patch and it worked fine.

I just installed SP2 and ran into the same problem. I
restored the system to a point immediately prior to SP2.
It works fine now. The SP2 documentation indicates that
some WPA update was included in SP2, most likely the same
thing.

I am trying to get support from MS on the issue. If they
have no patch, I will have to try WPA instead of WEP. If
that does not work, I will turn off Windows Update.

Open the TCP/IP properties of the connection, on the General tab select
Advanced, Options tab, TCP/IP filtering, Check Enable, Permit All should
be selected if you have a separate firewall.
