Looks like exactly what happened to me. Better call
Microsoft at 888 SP2 HELP.

Good luck. I had to format the C drive.

If your computer has a Prescott processor try disabling the L1/L2 cache in
the BIOS settings and see if you can boot to Windows. The computer may run
very slowly without the cache being enabled. Once you boot to Windows go to
Add and Remove Programs and Uninstall SP2. Re-enable the L1/L2 cache again.
Visit your motherboard manufacturer site to see if there is a BIOS update

Has anyone tried at this point flashing the latest mobo BIOS rather than
uninstalling SP2? Will this possibly allow the original SP2 install to
continue normally??
Having to uninstall SP2 seems a little odd if only a new mobo BIOS is
needed?

Yes it would be handy if one can just flash the BIOS. At this writing though
I haven't tried that so can't advise it.

I have tried flashing my A7N8X Deluxe V2 and Intel D875PBZ with no luck. I
can't flash my laptop, it's got nothing more current. MS PSS informed me on
all 3 cases to revert to my pre-SP2 images (becuase I did actually back them
BEFORE SP2 install!) until they could work out solutions to the various
serious problems I was having on these 3 machines. That was on 8/12, and
nothing yet. I have 2 others that are reasonably working, though some
software broke, but nothing I can't live without for a little while.

I just think this release is premature, based on the 30 or so installs I've
done at this point, as the restart problem, and laptop power management
problems seem to abound. I, and others, reported these with the Betas and
RC's, but they've not been addressed yet.

In other words, these are real problems that real people are having, and
having the attitude that "you might as well get it to work because you're
going to have to" is only half true; if enough people experience and report
the problems, MS will have to fix them as well. Please don't discourage
people from reporting their problems, as it appears your one post seems to be
saying. I think we're all trying to get SP2 up and working, but it sure
seems that MS isn't offering a whole lot of help. Let's hope they change
that. Enough on my soapbox ....
