XP SP2 CD

I may be re-installing XP soon, and I was thinking about ordering the CD for
XP SP2. I was wondering if the SP2 cd will contain media player 11, and IE
7, or do you still have to go out and download that stuff after putting on
SP2.

Thanks in advance.

You have to get those programs separately.

MP11 & IE 7 are also available as downloads but are not part of SP2.

If you have a CD burning program, I recommend going to the following sites,
download each of the three programs, then burn them to a single CD. That
way you will always have them available. Or you can wait until SP3 comes
out which, IIRC, will have IE7 and MP11 as part of the SP.

SP2 download

IE7 download
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...BE-3385-447C-8A30-081805B2F90B&displaylang=en

MP11

Of course after installing each of these programs there are many additional
updates to the computer. Most of them can also be downloaded and burned to
a CD also.

Hope this helps, let us know.

You may be right but according to this document from Microsoft, IE7 will
not be included in SP3. Check out page 5.

Overview of Windows XP SP3

At the moment, I can't find the reference, but I believe the same applies
to WMP 11.

Looks like I was wrong in reference to IE7 and probably WMP 11 (couldn't
find a reference either) being included in the SP. Thanks for bringing it
to my attention. We all learn here, don't we.
