XP SP2 Boot

I installed SP2 on my machine over a week ago and life was good. This AM I
booted my PC and ran a SPYBOT fix and did a virus update to Norton. Since
then when ever I boot I get the windows loading screen, it finishes and then
the screen goes black and the computer stops processing. I tried to do a
system restore to a check point from yesterday but that did not resolve the
problem. I did a restore to last know good configuration and that didn't
work. I brought windows up in safe mode and tried to back out any SPYBOT
changes but found none that were made today.
Any idea what I should do next?

Thank you,
Rick S.

Put your XP disk in the drive and see if you can boot with it. If you can
then reboot and follow the instructions for a repair install and go into the
Recovery Console and type in fixmbr and hit enter on your key board. This
will write you a new master boot record. If you can get into safe mode you
can check to see if your boot record is corrupt by going start\run and type
in msconfig and click ok or hit enter on your keyboard. Then click the
boot.ini tab and then click the "check all boot paths" button and see if it
finds a bad boot record and if so it will give you the option to write a new
one. Post back after trying these things to let us know how you made out.

I also have Spybot, had problems with SP2, and am wondering if it is
from Spybot. I’m thinking maybe Spybot deletes a registry item?
