XP SP1 write DVDs?

Does XP Pro SP1 support writing files to a DVD writable drive? I tried
dragging files to the drive icon but XP thinks the drive is a CD drive as
opposed to a DVD drive. The Device Manager properly shows the drive as a
DVD drive. Or do I have to have a program like EZ CD & DVD Creator?

Go to My Computer and right-click your DVD drive - Properties. There should
be a Recording tab...click enable recording.

Some well meant yet confusing responses you got there. :)

Windows XP does not natively support the writing of DVDs.

As you surmised you will need a third party solution. I personally use and
like Ahead's Nero.
