I am working on a setup for a remote worker. They are logging into our W2K
domain in our main office via a hardware VPN connection. They are using
Windows XP as there workstation operating system. They have been configured
with the necessary internal WINS and DNS server settings so that domain
resolution is working correctly. They can connect and map there drives no
problem via the network login script, but the system is horribly slow. The
VPN connection is over a DSL connection. The system take 3-5 seconds to
refresh network drives/directories when browsing them, but due to this
delay, the entire workstation's performance is affected, it stalls on
everything (view files on the local drive, opening applications, viewing
local printers, etc....). Any suggestions on how to minize the VPN's effect?
