xp security patch download!!

i've downloaded from the DOWNLOAD CENTER:
(1.) The security patch for XP &
(4.) Security patch for XP 64 BIT.
do i still need to dowload from the 'windows update' to
protect from the virus scare??????????

"virus scare"?
It is reality for unprotected computers.
You need a firewall.
You need an updated antivirus application.
You need to install ALL Critical Updates from Windows Update.

Also you should not need the 64 bit patch as you most likely have a 32
bit computer.
